Let Us Answer Your Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is residential assisted living (RAL)?

Residential Assisted Living is the new alternative to the ‘big-box’ institutional style of senior care. RAL homes typically have a much higher caregiver-to-resident ratio than big-box facilities and offer seniors a “home” assisted living environment within communities. Audubon Care Homes in Metairie is proud to have the highest caregiver-to-resident ratios found in the entire country!

How much does it cost?

Unlike big-box facilities, our monthly rate is all-inclusive. It does not increase based on level-of-care. We do not charge additional fees for providing services such as laundry, housekeeping or daily activities. Our fees are normally significantly lower than most other assisted living places in Metairie and other senior homes in the area.

Do you accept insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or long-term care insurance?

We are 100% private pay, however, if you have a long-term care insurance plan, we will gladly help you complete all the paperwork needed to get reimbursed each month.

How do you evaluate if someone is suitable for residency?

We will perform an initial assessment to determine if your loved one will be a good fit for one of our assisted living homes in Metairie.

Do you accept residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia?

Yes! Those with memory loss or moderate, non-aggressive dementia are also well suited to a more intimate “home-assisted” environment. Residents easily become familiar with the small setting, consistent staff and a limited number of other residents around them.

What sets Audubon Care Homes® apart from other assisted senior living homes in Metairie?

Our state-of-the-art technology and unique activities that encourage residents to participate and stimulate their minds truly set us apart and help us create personalized care for our residents. We are the first and only assisted living home in the city to have state-of-art patient engagement technology with programs and games specifically designed for memory care and dementia residents. Additionally, residents enjoy a welcoming family environment with all the comforts of home and whatever support they need to live as comfortable as possible.

How is the food?

We are always looking for ways to improve our menu! We encourage feedback from residents and their families! We have a seasonal menu that rotates every three weeks. We offer plenty of alternatives in the event your loved one does not want what is being served. We will also tailor our menu to each resident’s needs.

What if my loved one takes medication?

No problem! We work with a med-pass nurse who comes twice daily to administer medications. We can accommodate almost any medication regimen

Do you allow on-site medical visits?

Yes! We work with several medical providers in the community who are happy to come to our homes to see residents. These include a nurse practitioner, med-pass nurse, podiatrist, dentist, home health, hospice, wound care and PT/OT/ST.

Do I need to provide furniture for my loved one’s bedroom?

The entire home is professionally decorated, including the bedrooms, but residents can bring their own furniture and change the décor. We will be happy to provide all room furnishings if needed.
